Gameplay Overview

Bloodhunt (BH) is a FREE-TO-PLAY battle royale (BR) similar to what is already offered by other games of the same genre, but with some variations. From a pool of 8 vampires, you pick the one with the abilities that best suit your gameplay style and fight for victory on solos or trios matches.
Yes, you are a VAMPIRE with special abilities and NPCs are food. Apart from that, you drop on a shrinking map, collect weapons and supplies of different levels and fight your way to be the last standing.
2 things stood out while playing BH for 25 hours: extremely HIGH-PACED GAME and PERFORMANCE ISSUES. Stuttering, fps droppings, pc freezing, long loading times… The only way to play BH was by editing the game files and still wasn’t 100%. A huge counterpoint to the proposed fast-paced experience as gameplay rhythm was always cut off.

Step 2: Graphics & Sound

Watch 5 to 10 minutes of any video below. If you like what you see and hear, move on to Step 3: Game Evaluation.

USER INTERFACE

The game UI is SIMILAR to what is found in the BR and TPS multiplayer shooting genre. The in-game menu is well organized and helps players understand all assets that the game brings. On a side note, keybindings and targeting to pick-up objects need a bit of adjustment, but far from something that impact the gameplay.

STORY

BH is set in the city of Prague where vampires fight each other and NPCs soldiers called the Entity. In the game lobby, there are also NPCs with some simple quests you can complete during a match. Every game character, place, and object has lore to be read, but nothing of that changes or influence the gameplay.

COMMUNITY POTENTIAL

BR genre is one of the biggest categories in the gaming industry. Any BR game has a high potential of building a community and a tough competition to beat to win players’ preference. BH has an unbalanced battle pass, has no tournaments planned or a ranking system and because of that STARTS A BIT FAR BEHIND.

GAMEPLAY MOOD TRACKER

MOOD ANALYSIS

It took 2 extra hours of research and file editing to make the game playable. Performance issues dictated the mood tracker and affected negatively the real potential of BH. In the 25 hours of gameplay, my mood varied from ANXIOUS to EAGER ending in an average of NORMAL.

GRIND FEELING

The core characteristic of a BR game is being able to play on the same map over and over a game and always have a totally different match. BH is no exception to that, the more you learn the small details of the game, the more enjoyable it will be and the feeling of repetition will never be there.

LIKED THE MOST

The pace of the game and its verticality make the gameplay experience intense and always dynamic.

HATED THE MOST

There is nothing worst in a game than not being able to play it because of performance issues.

EVALUATION SUMMARY

Bloodhunt has a huge potential based on the proposed gameplay experience but IS NOT READY for an Early Access release. After “accepting” the game wouldn’t work as it should, it was fun to play.

BH doesn’t allow you to “camp” or hide and engaging in combat is extremely risky as you will be third, fourth, or even “fifty-partied”. It will take some hours of gameplay to learn how the balance between being ultra-aggressive and waiting the right moment to push.

But, if there is something to love about BH is the initial COMMITMENT OF ITS DEVELOPERS to build a community by listening to criticism, acknowledging mistakes, and delivering fast responses. That experience brought hope that this game after a couple of months will be smooth to play.
