Game Description
CAT QUEST II is a 2D open-world action-RPG set in a fantasy realm of cats and dogs. Under threat from a continuing war between the cats of Felingard and the advancing dogs of the Lupus Empire, CAT QUEST II tells the tail of two kings, brought together against their will, on a journey of paw-some… (continues…)
Step 1: Playing Conditions
Read below the game basic characteristics. If it is something you see yourself playing, move on to Step 2: Graphics & Sound.
Gameplay Overview
The JOY of this game is directly related to your ability to laugh at simple and foolish things. The game’s cuteness, vocabulary, story, references, and jokes are there to bring you that innocent smiles while you play. CAT QUEST II (CQII) is a CASUAL RPG. Simple, easy and fun. A great game to introduce new and young players to the RPG genre.
The only UNBALANCED thing on the game is the number of items vs its content. The game seems short to the number of weapons and gear you can equip. You can complete the game with no need of using half of it.
Step 2: Graphics & Sound
Watch 5 to 10 minutes of any video below. If you like what you see and hear, move on to Step 3: Game Evaluation.
Step 3: Game Evaluation
Build your expectations about the game by learning what it offers and how was The Partisan Spy’s experience.
USER INTERFACE
The game interface comes with what most casual games offer and added to that the basics of an RPG game. The in-game menu has 4 tabs really easy to understand and navigate.
To improve the gameplay dynamics, the game overlay could have spells icons and cast indicators by default.
STORY
The story is FUN, easy to understand, and gets you involved with the game. Some side quests are related to the story plot and some bring new short stories to the game.
The story also plays a key role to BLOCK the sensation of mechanics repetition, a typical characteristic of casual games.
COMMUNITY POTENTIAL
CASUAL + PVE games don’t get a lot of attention from the gaming community when compared to other titles and genres.
But CQII brings two elements to connect friends and family: its COOP mode and multiple reasons to laugh. The best laughs are the ones we laugh together.
MOOD ANALYSIS
The mood tracking results show that my mood builds up as the game story develops and it reaches EAGER level as the story ends. After that, my mood stays between NORMAL and ENTERTAINED with a spike led by an accomplishment. CQII follows the pattern of casual games with a mood average result of NORMAL.
GRIND FEELING
The grinding feeling appears as the story is completed and the game is not 100% complete.
For 2 HOURS the feeling was at its max level, as grinding levels was NECESSARY to defeat a dungeon boss. It’s possible to AVOID the grinding feeling if completing the entire game is not one of your objectives.
LOVED THE MOST
The smiles and how relaxed you can play it. It’s a real joy to play a game in which “player performance and mechanical skills” is not the main factor.
DISLIKED THE MOST
The lack of triggers to use different weapons and armors. Enemies could be designed in a way to “force” a change of character builds.
EVALUATION SUMMARY
To fully experience this game allow yourself to be GOOFY. Laugh of foolish things, at the game the word “fur” is always used at the place of “for”. Laugh about that. CAT QUEST II is a “pick and play” game, the learning curve is minimal, so be clever about it and play it when you are ready for those simple, innocent laughs.
On the more objective side of things, CAT QUEST II is FLAWLESS. Different from some indie or casual games, it didn’t present bugs or performance issues. Everything the game proposed to deliver is there and well polished. Not cheap, not expensive, price tag on this game is fair.
