Gameplay Overview
Doom Eternal is FAITHFUL to its roots: guns, demons, violence, gore and an intense FPS gameplay. The game mechanics are set in a way that forces you to play in the RIP AND TEAR style. Shot, move around, swap weapons, use abilities, dash, final blows… You will do all that in every 30 seconds of combat. Playing Doom Eternal is not about standing still or finding cover to shoot at targets. The most effective way to get what you need to survive is by engaging aggressively and killing demons.
Aside from all the action, there are 10 different items to explore and collect. 6 of them are related to weapons and character upgrades and the rest are lore and cosmetic items. All these items and currency points MAY LOOK COMPLEX to some but after a dozen hours of gameplay, it becomes easier to understand.

USER INTERFACE
The game has a STANDARD UI with no big novelties. Its design helps you understand the reason for all collectible items and the tutorial pop-ups for new demons are really convenient.
Besides that, SIMPLE IMPROVEMENTS could be done to increase players’ “quality of life”. For example, hardcoded keybindings are a challenge to key customization, map access could be in one separate key and fast travel windows at the end of missions could be more clear.
STORY
Doom Eternal has 13 missions and every mission is a chapter of its story. Cutscenes and a VO companion tells the story as you advance throw out the game and it’s REALLY SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND. Even though the game is all about killing demons and that’s basically what you will do the entire game, the story brings reason to the completion of every mission.
Besides the lore items, all other items are not directly linked to the story.
COMMUNITY POTENTIAL
Doom franchise is LEGENDARY in the gaming community.
Every new game that carries this name will get its portion of attention.
To make its LIFE SPAN ATTENTION LONGER, the game includes a PVP mode, Master Levels, weekly challenges, and the Slayers Club with community challenges and rankings.
After all the PVE content is generated, there will still be things to share and talk about.
GAMEPLAY MOOD TRACKER
MOOD ANALYSIS
Doom is intense and challenging. How you respond to that, will define your mood about this game.
For 15 hours of gameplay, my mood was between EAGER and CAN’T STOP PLAYING IT, the only exceptions were at moments of less challenging combats and when I missed a fast travel window and had to repeat part of a mission.
GRIND FEELING
To complete 100% of each mission you need to win all combats, collect every item and do 3 challenges. There are different kinds of combats and new challenges for every mission. But what keeps you from feeling the grind in Doom Eternal is the variety of weapons, skills, and demons. There is no easy way to win combats, you will always need to use everything you got.
LIKED THE MOST
The gameplay mechanics are set to always keep the intensity and violence in combats at its highest levels.
DISLIKED THE MOST
Hardcoded keybinds makes the gameplay really hard for players that like to customize keyboards. For example, a simple thing as map navigation becomes a challenge.
EVALUATION SUMMARY

Doom Eternal requires your full attention and your best gaming skills.
There is no better way to appreciate Doom’s franchise purpose by only playing at NIGHTMARE DIFFICULTY. To fully understand what it is to be a Doom Slayer, you need to suffer, to feel frustration, to think you will never make it…
It shouldn’t be easy to play as Doom Slayer, in fact, Nightmare should be the starting difficulty of the game and above that, an impossible and deadly adventure only to hardcore players.
Doom Eternal is a great example of how FLAWLESS GAMEPLAY compensates every other aspect of a game. Not every element in the game is perfect or even good, but screw it, because the gameplay is.
There is no rest at Doom Eternal, play it with VIOLENCE, play it with HATE, get ANGRY, shout if you feel like, and find out if there is a Slayer in you.
